Open Settings
On a phone: tap the menu icon (two lines) to open the sidebar, then tap your profile icon or name to open Settings.

Tap or click Data controls.
Turn off “Improve the model for everyone”
Switch it off (on the web, click it, switch it off and choose Done). Your new conversations won't be used to train OpenAI's models. When you're signed in, this applies to your account on all your devices.
💡 Your history stays. Turning this off doesn't delete or hide your past chats. OpenAI notes voice chats have their own separate sharing setting, so look for that too, and that giving a thumbs up or down can share that conversation.Use Temporary Chat for one-off private questions
Look for Temporary chat when starting a new chat. Temporary chats don't appear in your history, don't create memories and aren't used for training. OpenAI may keep a copy for up to 30 days for safety.
Check Memory
ChatGPT can remember details about you between chats. Review or turn this off under Settings > Personalization.
Delete chats you don't need
Open a chat, tap the ••• (more options) menu and choose Delete. Deleted chats can't be restored.
⚠️ Settings help, but aren't a force field. The safest habit is still to keep passwords, account numbers, ID numbers and medical records out of any chatbot.
